support DBCS in the editor of WDSibyl  Bottom

  • Hi Wolfgang,

I'm a pascal programmer in my spare time and are developing some programs for os/2 -esc e.g. Bridge2-Hi.

I'm very happy that you and your team is maintaining the Sibyl and I also want to transfer to WDSibyl platform in future programming.

However I'm a Chinese and like to use Chinese words making comments. Is it possible that you modify the WDSibyl and let Editor displaying Chinese word with Unicode font like Times New Roman MT.

    Thanks.
    Best regards.

  • Hello!

It is very interest that WDSibyl is using in China. :-)

But at the moment I have no time (Job, Family, ...) for WDSibyl.

The big problem is that to few people, firms, ... have interest (source, money, ...) on WDSibyl. Unfortunately I cannot live from WDSibyl and so I must work in an other firm. So it is not possible for me to include all UniCode-Functions or other functions into WDSibyl.
I do not know, when the next version come out.

    Sorry.

    bye,
    Wolfgang
  • Hi Wolfgang,

I'm quite understand your situation and I think lot of os/2 guys don't live on programming for os/2-eCS. For instance myself is just interesting in this OS and pascal programming.

Any way can I make some modification on the part of the Sibyl to support DBCS? What can I do for this project?

    Best regards.

    CHEN, Biao

  • Hello Chen!

When you really want to help us, then you can following do:

    For the UniCode
.) Search for informationen, samples (in pascal), ... about UniCode and DBCS in eCS.
.) I think it is very important, that we generate first any UniCode function. (any function I have write).

    For the Project
.) Look for more people, firms, ..., who want to programming in WDSibyl and give money for this project
    .) I need a unit that can convert JPG-Files into BMP-Files.
.) I need a unit that can XML for OS2 and Windows
.) Search for a programmer that have interest to convert the WDSibyl-Source to Linux.

    Thank you

Today I have get my sources to subversion
    http://svn.netl…g/wdsibyl/wiki

In the String.pas-Unit can you see, that I have write some UniCode-Functions.

    bye,
    Wolfgang
