I have program in pascal for a long time. I migrated to vp due to the incredibly stable runtime which was created. I had alot of trouble with speedsoft and sibyl which caused me to distance myself from it. At times this caused me to have to decide whether to release a GUI application in windows or a text mode app in OS/2 (for the work I was doing, time was more a consideration then an elegant UI).

For a while I had dabbled with using Sibyl instead of delphi, to create both OS/2 and Windows versions of applications I was working on, however due to poor error handling and generally buggy runtime I ended up distancing myself from the product.

Early versions of WDSibyl did not do much to help regain my interest due to the fact that it was quite easy to crash the entire IDE with the forms editor (which would be the main reason I would even use sibyl).

I just would like some input from people about the stability of the runtime under both windows and OS/2. I have several projects which I would like the option of either OS. (I would still like all of my development to be for OS/2).

Even if there are still small bugs in wdsibyl I wouldn't be opposed to migrating my apps towards it, since I can spend a few hours a week working on bugs in the actual runtime/compiler. The timeline for my app would be about 2-3 months where I would need a fully stable subsystem. Unfortunately I cannot be very tolerant of any bugs in the runtime since that may expose the underlying system and these are going to be secure systems.

I have had the same experience as you and also using mostly VP for development for OS/2.
But for the latest release I must say it has proved very stable, both the IDE and the actual runtime created.

The debugger can be used fully, only gothca is to always include begin .. end even if it isn't strictly necessary.

So I can only say: try once more.

I should have added that I have absolutely no experience with Windows - above comment only goes for OS/2
